Fat Tuesday

Well Eli & the Giants took down the Pats. I told you here first-Giants by 4. So I was off by one point. If I were a betting man I would have made some bank. Alas...I have no money for betting purposes and I cannot stand to lose money when I have no control over the outcome. I do wish I had bet someone lunch. That's always a safe bet because win or lose-you're gonna eat. Speaking of eating, it is fat tuesday. I have been to mardi gras and it is crowded, dirty and loud.Man it was a lot of fun.I love going to New Orleans and eating at all of the fine restaurants & some of the not so fine ones. The best meal I have ever had was at NOLA. That is one of Emeril's many restaurants. The food, atmosphere and service were outstanding. The price wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either. If you ever get a chance to go to the BIG EASY I highly recomend NOLA, House of Blues, Cresent City Brewery and, of course, Cafe' DuMonde.
I, on the other hand, have a whole new outlook on fat tuesday. I had began a workout routine and a high protien/lowfat diet at the new year. I weigh myself on the first of the month at the gym. This morning was the first day I could get back and weigh myself. I have gained 6 pounds in one month. SIX POUNDS!!! I would like to say it is because I am getting buff and everone knows muscle weighs more than fat. But more than likely it is S.'s bithday cake(an ice cream cake I made for her) chili & cheese dip I made for Super Bowl and the home made chocolate chip cookies H. made with her chef kit she got for Christmas. But SIX POUNDS!! So my goal this month is to lose that six and another two and I am counting on that leap day to help me out.
I have a new show I am watching as much as possible. No not TMZ-I'm fat, not stupid. It is called The First 48 on A&E. The reason I like it so much is becasue it is about the first 48 hours after a homicide and it is real life. It also features Memphis. Alot. I know my beloved Memphis has a high crime rate, it always has. I watch it to see parts of Memphis that I might know. So far I have seen Lamar ave., 201 Poplar(Memphis jail)and various parts of Raleigh. I have not seen the couple of friends I have that are MPD.
Well I had better go so I can prepare to finish the 100 list and tomorrows lunch of chicken, broccoli and brown rice. I know they are eating better than that in New Orleans and probably 201 Poplar.

Still Here

Well... I am still here and have alot to post about but it will have to wait until after the superbowl. Go GIANTS!!! Go ELI!!! Finally looking at finishing the 100 things blog and posting more pics. In my downtime I have found the site TMZ. Wow what a bunch of poop. Not so much of the celebrity & wannabes but it is set up like it was designed by a government agencey or a NASCAR track designer. It is pointless, goes nowhere and is chock full of crashes, smoke and white trash. As I was getting off of that site, I change the channel on the television and there is a show on late night-yep that's right TMZ-TV. I know we all want to live vicariously through others just a little bit, but why not someone who is doing good in the world like...um... give me a sec. Well you get what I mean. Well I gotta go finish watching TMZ or find a NASCAR countdown to DAYTONA show. Go JEFF GORDON...oops...um... I mean DALE JR.

Go Tigers Go!

Memphis Tigers-56
Tulsa Golden Hurricanes-41
It was worth the dish network fee to see the Tigers in SW Ohio.
Coming soon...S's birthday sleepover and 12 year blog. The new music from the band is coming along very well ( from reports ) and the outtakes, b-sides and dittys on the box set is done and ready for duplication. We just need a duplicator. If anyone wants to pony up $500 to hear the 96 of the best of the worst of what we do for fun-shoot me an e-mail. Music is my golf. I don't buy expensive clubs, I buy cheap guitars, basses and synths. I don't spend all day sat. & sun. in a grassy field, I spend whatever night we can all get together in basements, porches and studios. We are rock stars in our own mind-as well we should be. We have 500 classics that should be on every man, woman and child's top 10 lists. But enough of that,I have to go find a way to keep six 12 year old girls entertained for a sleepover soon. There will be blood, sweat and tears. Hey---that's a good name for a band.

7degrees of seperation

Well, it's been a few days since we last visited clan of impending disaster. We received the Christmas presents from Memphis. It was a great day if you ask my kids. I tortured them and made them wait until I arrived home from work to open the 4 huge boxes that contained the booty. (yes-we still laugh at booty jokes of any kind.) I must say that the Memphis haul was far beyond what I ever thought that could make it in 4 good size(o.k.- huge)boxes. We all received so much cool stuff that now we think we are rich-which we are not, and the girls were giddy until it was time to clean up. It was at that time that I realized the new way to get them into bed at bed time-a cleaning party. Worked like a charm. So we left everything in the front room and went to bed full of chocolate covered cherries and dreams of what we would all wear the next day. H has already made some snicker doodles with her baking set-the chef in me is sooooo proud and S has worn every earring she has for the last few days. E was the last box we opened and I had fun torturing her because she expects nothing but gets very, very excited when she does get something just for her- I think it's middle sister syndrome ala Jan Brady. So a large time was had by all. I sold my first car of the year today. Bout time! Oh well I think I could do better if I were at a bigger dealership but I would also have to actually work.
Tonight, after work we went out for S's birthday she will be twelve in a couple of days and she thinks she is the coolest. And she is. We let her open her presents from us and let her pick the place to eat. We have a standing reservation at the local Japanese steakhouse teppanaki table every birthday, big payday, when taxes are filed or in the event I get a bonus. We love it. So we went there and ate like we are not on a serious diet. that means one extra mile on the treadmill tomorrow. S got some more earrings, and those silly hippies shoes-but they are cute on her. Kinda a Birkenstock clog.
She Really digs them and thinks they are groovy.-- O.K. she really said they were kewl.
I cannot believe how fast this little baby has grown into a chic. I will post more on that on the official birthday blog. Well that is all for now and I am missing having these things with my family in Memphis. They miss all the cool stuff--one of the reasons for this blog---and it is not a BLOODY 7DEGREES in MEMPHIS RIGHT NOW. That is not windchill people. It is 7 degrees in OHIO right this second. So off to bed I go, but before that I have to go unfreeze the dog from her crouched state as she is stuck to the frozen tundra of our back yard.
Nighty night for now,

I just thought I might finally put something pretty up here. These are the girls at Christmas 2007. They did not get everything they wanted & we would not have space to put all that stuff....the Superdome does not have enough room to put that much stuff. They did get enough to keep them occupied until I can distract them with promises of Hannah Montana movie tickets or at least ice cream. I do not want to think about how much stuff they will want when I hit that MEGA-MILLIONS jackpot.(that better be soon-by the way) I think they have already started their Christmas 2008 list & I am sure that more will be added in the coming days, weeks and months. Right now I have to save up for more pens and paper for their ever growing list....and a boatload of ice cream.

BCS

Tonight is the night. The BCS bowl. I am deep in the heart of BUCKEYE country and everyone here is excited about The Ohio State University playing the LSU Tigers. Today I have seen all manner of folk walking around in scarlet and grey, buckeye ties, jerseys, hats faces painted and flags and banners on most of the houses in my neighborhood. It's getting a little sickening. I am not a huge fan of LSU-but they are S.E.C. ( the greatest college football conference) and they are NOT Ohio State. I have a dislike for OSU & here is why. When I was a young buck and waiting tables Ohio State won the right to play in the highly sought after Liberty Bowl in my hometown of Memphis, TN. they were playing the Air Force Academy. All you heard in the news was that OSU deserved to be going to a better bowl and they should save their money and stay home that year and why would they play the lowly Air Force team. I happened to be one of the waiters when the Air Force team came in to have lunch the day before the big game. We were right across from the team hotel and during that week and we saw the polite and decent tipping Air Force fans come and go and the drunken, demanding, not so good tipping Bucks fans . We also, as I said served the Air Force team. They were polite, called me sir-even though I was about the same age as most of them and they were excited to be in my hometown. As it happened, the Air Force beat the living crap outta the Bucks and sent them back to Columbus licking their wounds. this is the main reason I do not like the Buckeyes. Also the O-H-I-O cheer gets really annoying after about 30 seconds. If you don't know what I am talking about - one person in a large, mostly drunken crowd yells out O-H and then someone else in the crowd yells out I-O. This goes on until the group gets so drunk they forget how to spell OHIO. My prediction:LSU 32 OSU 28 in a good game.

Geaux Tigers,
